...and any other Oppo sketch artists. I came across this article from the WaPo last night. It’s written and illustrated by a sketch artist who spent some time in Afghanistan last year. It looks like there are more articles, so presumably, more drawings. And the drawings are fantastic.

My pleasure. This sort of thing really pushes my buttons. There’s an immediacy and life to the sketches that photographs, in all their precision, fail to capture. I think this artist strikes the perfect balance between detail and lack of detail. You can’t draw everything, and what you choose to leave out can be as enlightening as what you include. Great stuff.

I have not, but I do remember seeing the drawing of the destroyed MRAP. The more I look at these, I think it’s the contrast of pencil on paper, the clarity of the open spaces that give these almost a blueprint quality. Precision in description, with nothing extra to distract. Brilliant.
